Part of a World Heritage Site, Casemates du Bock once played a key role in a network of defensive underground passages. Originally stretching for over 20 km (12.5 mi), the honeycombed passageways housed garrisons of soldiers defending the city, along with their horses, weapons, and other essential equipment. Constructed in the mid-18th century, the casemates provided a shelter for nearly 40,000 locals during World War II. After exploring the city's underground history, enjoy sweeping views from the top of the casements. Expect lots of stairs and prepare for your walk by wearing a pair of comfortable shoes. Put Casemates du Bock and other Luxembourg City attractions into our Luxembourg City driving holiday planning tool, and watch your holiday take shape.

Stunning natural and man made formations in the center of town. A bit like a fortification made into a sheer cliff. Absolutely worth a stop by when visiting Luxembourg. As a UNESCO world heritage site they are very fun to explore and walk around. You can walk from the bottom to the top or Visa Versa, and it’s in the center of town and close to other attractions. There’s lots of information boards telling you about the history of the place and truly stunning views over the city to admire!
