Aurora Basecamp, Hafnarfjordur

UN REAL PLACE. We arrived at about 21.30 hoping to see the northern lights with a forecast of 3/4 on the northern lights forecast and clear skies ahead. There was a few cars here and within 3 minutes of parking up the northern lights started to peak out at us. We ended up sitting here for about 2.5 hours and watched the lights dance above our heads. And we even saw some from fosshotel over the sea in reykjavik! Woke up feeling totally in shock that I've I've something people can only dream of. Definetly a good spot to go. Roads are easy to drive and not far away from the city. But dark enough to see the show.

What a fantastic place! We arrived early for our viewing time but were welcomed straight away by our guide, who was so helpful and knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about what to look out for during the tour, which really helped with spotting the faint beginnings of the aurora later in the night. We got to relax in the warm, cozy doom while waited and after an hour or so we finally got to see them! Totally spectacular! The Aurora Basecamp was a magical place to watch it.
