Also known as "The Fall of the Gods," Goðafoss Waterfall represents a magnificent horseshoe-shaped waterfall and a favorite of many tourists. The waterfall represents the point in time where the Heathens of Iceland made the choice to convert to Christianity and allegedly threw all their idols over the falls. Spanning a width of 30 m (98 ft) and reaching 12 m (39 ft) high, this natural masterpiece is worth spending a few minutes on. Check out the gift shop where traditional Icelandic wool items are reasonably priced. • Beautiful scenery around the Godafoss Falls, including the greenish river water. Reminds me of my first trip to Niagara Falls many years ago. Took cruise excursion from Akureyri - 3 hour round-trip, with additional stop in the botanical gardens.
  • Nice waterfall. VERY COLD! there is a coffee shop/cafeteria close by. We took a private tour from Ayukeri from a cruise (50€ per person).
