You'll recognize Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre by its picture-perfect white stone. The basilica remains white even with weathering and pollution, due to its construction with travertine stone, which exudes the mineral calcite. Before entering, take a look up at the Equestrian Statue of King Saint Louis on the left and the Equestrian Statue of Saint Joan of Arc on the right. When you enter, you're surrounded by interesting artifacts and art, including the mosaic in the apse entitled "Christ in Majesty,” which is among the largest in the world. Join the daily Catholic mass or meditate at the fountain in the gardens. To visit Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre on your trip to Paris, use our Paris trip app.

This is one of the best locations to visit while in Paris. I would say first place, especially if you aren't lazy enough to walk around and inhale the spirit of old Paris. Each time we visit this Basilica we find something new!

This was the most wonderful place I visited while in Paris! I fell in love with this cathedral the moment I saw it from afar. The outside of the cathedral is absolutely gorgeous. The inside is breathtaking. Definitely the most beautiful Cathedral I’ve ever been to. They offer the Eucharist at various times of the day as well as confessions. I arrived early in the day, therefore I didn’t have to wait in line to enter. I spent 3-4 hours here.
