Pylon Lookout at Sydney Harbour Bridge
From the top of the southeast pylon on Sydney Harbour Bridge--87 m (285 ft) above sea level--you have panoramic views of Sydney, the Opera House, and the bridge itself. As you climb the 200 stairs, learn about the bridge’s construction and the workers who built it from informational plaques, exhibitions, and old footage spread over several levels inside the pylon. Interestingly, while providing some support, Pylon Lookout at Sydney Harbour Bridge, with its granite façade, is mostly decorative. Interesting to get the history of the building of the bridge. And nice to get the view from the Pylons. Would recommend first thing when it opens so that there are fewer people on the pylon.

The Harbour Bridge Climb is of course world-famous, featuring in every tourist guide book, but climbing the Pylon doesn't seem to be very well known at all. It is a much under-rated tourist sight...

Highly recommend visiting the Pylon Lookout. The steps were spacious with informative exhibits displayed at every landing. There is a virtual tour guide along the stairs assessable via QR code scan. After over 200 steps visitors will be rewarded with gorgeous views of Sydney and saw two groups of bridge climbers on the Harbour Bridge that day. The Pylon Museum was well curated, gained further appreciation for the bridge after learning a bit more about the challenges faced by those who built it. Staffs were very friendly, capping off an enjoyable and memorable experience.

The 200 steps are very do-able and it's so worth the views. Great central location easily accessed by public transport. We followed up with a lovely meal in The Glenmore Hotel, one of the many eateries just steps from the entrance.
