Examine the social history of law and crime at Justice & Police Museum. The building served as a police station and court in 19th century. Today it stands as both a relic of colonial architecture and a trove of criminal justice history. Start by exploring the magistrate’s court, a recreated charge room, and remand cells. Head into the Charge Room and stand before the Duty Sergeant's Desk, where suspected criminals went through fingerprinting. See a collection of criminal weapons and a gallery of mugshots, and review evidence from infamous murder cases. The museum contains over 9,000 objects in all and houses a vast archive of photo negatives documenting police work. We were looking for something to do on a Sunday morning. It was an interesting hour and a half. Not a massive amount to see but what was there was very interesting.

Had a date day just for visiting museums on the weekend, you get in free to most museums on the weekend. If you love crime documentaries or things like underbelly you'll enjoy your visit. From old weapons with something to read along with it, to standing in the old cells and courtroom it was very interesting. They even have a couple of rooms with videos playing if you'd like to sit and listen along with seeing old pictures being shown.

It really was a lot more interesting than you may think. I recommend visiting this place if you like crime related content and it was only 1 minute away from the Circular Quay train station by foot. Definitely worth a visit.
