Become one of nearly 10,000 annual visitors attending cultural events held at iconic Government House. This busy city landmark, serving as the official residence of the governor of New South Wales, was constructed between 1837 and 1843 of stone, cedar, and marble. Designed by the prominent royal architect Edward Blore, who also worked on the plans for London’s Buckingham Palace, the building overlooks Sydney Harbor and includes a large garden area, which is open to the public. Make this historic site, featuring oil portraits and coats of arms from its past occupants, a mandatory stop on your tour of the city. I was lucky and I was the only person at the guided tour of the building, for that I could take pictures. I nice place to see how British Aristocracy was living.

A hidden gem in Sydney surrounded by beautiful Sydney Botanical Garden. Constructed between 1837 and 1843, the property has been the vice-regal residence of the Governor of NSW. The house is open to guided tours only. Free entry on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. Upon arrival, register at entrance building and they will let you in through the free, guided tour. Tours are available from 9 am to 3 pm. Tour duration is 30-40 min. The tour guide was amazing, giving us much information about the building and its history. Highly recommended!!! Don’t miss it.

Quite remarkable architecture, location and interior. The formal areas are quite breathtaking for the decor and history, highlighted by the artworks. Gardens are sublime on a good weather day.
