Established in 1827, Australian Museum is the country's oldest museum, with an international reputation in the fields of natural history and indigenous studies. Located in the heart of the city, near Hyde Park, the museum includes collections of vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, mineralogy, paleontology, and anthropology. Apart from its permanent exhibitions, the museum is also involved with international research efforts in the field of aboriginal studies and hosts a number of educational programs. The museum was originally conceived and developed along the contemporary European model of an encyclopedic warehouse of cultural and natural history. Over time, the building has evolved to encompass a range of architectural styles. The museum has some genuinely rare and special exhibits. It's collection of preserved Australian birds is impressive, for example. I'm not a fan of its occasional mixing of natural history with anthropological objects, but this approach isn't taken too often thankfully. The building is a fine venue for an intriguing and worthwhile series of collections.

The Australian Museum is a heritage-listed museum located in the heart of Sydney CBDt, New South Wales, Australia. It is the oldest museum in Australia, with a diverse collections such as Nature, Culture, and Wildlife. Access is easy via public transport. 2 hours is enough for a typical visit and more you need if interested to investigate deep. A lot of interesting options for children. Highly recommended.
