Spend a few hours wandering the myriad stalls at Queen Victoria Market, the largest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere. Originating as a small market east of the city in the 1850s, the market today covers seven hectares (17 acres) in the Melbourne Central Business District. Shop for a variety of food, clothing, shoes, jewelry, and crafts. Make sure you try a hot doughnut from the van that's been operating here for more than 50 years. Love it here! Such a great morning to be spent browsing all the different areas. It has everything you need from fresh produce to clothing and gifts. The veg and fruit are all fresh and the heart and seafood are consistently good quality. The deli section is my favourite with all sorts of beautiful European treats! There's a food hall with a really wide selection of different cuisines plus coffee carts and a brilliant donut van! Getting there is straight forward as it's well serviced by buses and trams. Recommend getting there early to avoid it getting too crowded but even when it's busy it's a great atmosphere.

A nice not so little market in the middle of the city. The place is ideal to find fresh veggies on very nominal prices. They also have many small businesses outlets selling art, souvenirs, knock-off clothes, leather items. I did get passport holder customised from here, they had so many options and colours. The place also hosts night markets on Wednesday during summer and winter. The night markets are fun filled with music, food and shopping outlets.
