Visit the landmark of Maracaibo at Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá, a church dedicated to the patron saint of the Zulia state. First built in 1686, the church has since been restored and remodeled many times, most recently in 1941. View the small table on which an image of the Virgin Mary miraculously appeared in 1709, and the statue depicting the Virgin in front of the church. Admire the vibrant facade or step inside to see frescoes, intricate wooden chairs, and marble floors. Discover how to plan a Maracaibo trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

  • What better place to venerate our Virgin Chinita Patronof of our city, see and make the little ones know the history of the altarpiece and its crown

  • Go to Maracaibo and not visit "La Chinita", as colloquially we meet Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquira, the patron saint of Maracaibo, Zulia and also Colombia, from where I arrived at the beginning of the 18th century on a tablite painted navigating the waters of the Lake Maracaibo, it's like not going to Maracaibo. The Basilica Minor of Our Lady of the Rosary and San Juan de Dios, Marian Shrine of the West of Venezuela, is the center of the spirituality and life of faith of the Zulian, has great architectural, pictorial and cultural value and I consider that it should be a must-see for those who want to know the idiosyncrasies of the villager of this beautiful city.
