Part of Haleakala National Park, Pools at Ohe'o features seven pools that flow into each other. Follow the 2.9 km (1.8 mi) trail from the pools to Waimoku Falls. Clear water moves over black volcanic rock that is overgrown with plants. Visitors are welcome to climb around the edge of the pools. Inquire at the park's ranger office about swimming conditions before taking a dip to avoid problems with flash flooding and bacteria.   • Super awesome view of the ocean and waves hitting the black rocks. Can only access some of the pools now though.
  • Amazing. TIP: Bring your reef shoes. Bring your lunch and plan a picnic. Leave early morning and make a day of it. Fill up with gas the night before — not a lot of options out that way. Oh — and bring cash for the fruit stands.
