Founded in the 10th century as a Viking fishing village, Copenhagen has morphed into the cultural, political, and economic powerhouse of the country.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Frederiksborg Castle and Viking Ship Museum. Do some cultural sightseeing at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and Kastellet. Take a break from Copenhagen with a short trip to Roskilde Domkirke in Roskilde, about 40 minutes away. There's much more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Jaegerborg Dyrehave, take in the dramatic natural features at Mons Klint, step into the grandiose world of Amalienborg, and pause for some serene contemplation at Frederiks Kirke (Marmorkirken).

New Delhi, India to Copenhagen is an approximately 12-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. You'll gain 4 hours traveling from New Delhi to Copenhagen due to the time zone difference. Denmark's third-largest city proudly displays its link to the famous writer with museums, sculptures, and public art installations dedicated to Andersen and his stories.
Kick off your visit on the 27th (Fri): see the interesting displays at The Funen Village, step into the grandiose world of Egeskov Castle, and then get engrossed in the history at The Danish Railway Museum.
