Recovering from the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 was no easy task, but Christchurch has faced the challenges with aplomb.Explore Christchurch's surroundings by going to Geraldine (Peel Forest Park Scenic Reserve, Talbot Forest Scenic Reserve, &more), Langdale Wine Estate (in West Melton) and Akaroa (Akaroa Lighthouse, Dolphin & Whale Watching, &more). On the 2nd (Tue), spend the day riding on TranzAlpine Train. On the 25th (Thu), spend a fun day on foot with Walking tours. There's still lots to do: stroll around Christchurch Botanic Gardens, take in the pleasant sights at Banks Peninsula, examine the collection at International Antarctic Centre, and make a trip to 185 Empty White Chairs - Earthquake Memorial.
