A relaxed town of tree-shaded streets and scenic coastal stretches, Broome gained renown as a center of the pearling industry in the late 19th century.
Broome is known for beaches, wildlife, and nature. The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Get out of town with these interesting Darwin side-trips: Batchelor (Batchelor Butterfly Farm and Pet Garden, Coomalie Cultural Centre, &more), Litchfield National Park (Wangi Falls, Florence Falls, &more) and Adelaide River War Cemetery (in Adelaide River). There's still lots to do: get interesting insight from Tours, get some thrills on the water with a speed boat tour, make a splash at Wave Lagoon, and get engrossed in the history at RFDS Darwin Tourist Facility.

Traveling by combination of flight and bus from Broome to Darwin takes 6 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Australian Western Standard Time to Australian Central Standard Time, which is usually a 1.5 hour difference. Traveling from Broome in May, expect somewhat warmer with lows of 26°C in Darwin. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
