The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Take a break from the city and head to Nature & Wildlife Tours and Berry Springs Nature Park. Get some cultural insight at Darwin Aviation Museum and RFDS Darwin Tourist Facility. Take a break from Darwin with a short trip to Magnetic Termite Mounds in Litchfield National Park, about 1h 40 min away. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at East Point Reserve, take in nature's colorful creations at George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens, see the interesting displays at Defence of Darwin Experience, and get some thrills on the water with a speed boat tour.
