Cairns

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Step out of Cairns to go to Palm Cove and see Palm Cove Beach, which is approximately 32 minutes away. Spend the 31st (Fri) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. And it doesn't end there: trek along Esplanade Boardwalk, admire the natural beauty at Botanical Gardens, take an unforgettable tour with a helicopter tour, and let little ones run wild at Muddy's Playground.

Plan my trip to Cairns with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

In December, Cairns is much warmer than Manchester - with highs of 36°C and lows of 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Port Douglas.
