Often described as the city of laptops and lederhosen, Munich is an international center of business, engineering, research, and medicine that still maintains a rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Viktualienmarkt and Schack-Galerie. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Schloss Hohenschwangau and Schloss Linderhof. Go for a jaunt from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen to see Zugspitze about 1h 40 min away. And it doesn't end there: take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Peter's Church, take in the exciting artwork at Gallerie Thomas, pick up some local products at Markt am Wiener Platz, and see the interesting displays at Munich Residenz.
