Little more than a small town at the turn of the 20th century, Dushanbe grew rapidly during the Soviet era and now serves as the national capital and home to nearly 800,000 people.
Explore Dushanbe's surroundings by going to Ski Tourism Complex Safed Dara (in Tagob), Hisor (Hisor Fortress & Hisor HIstorical and Cultural Preserve) and Nurek Dam (in Nurek). There's much more to do: stroll around Rudaki Park, shop like a local with NOOR ART GALLERY, make a trip to National Library, and pause for some photo ops at Statue of Ismoil Somoni.

For traveler tips, more things to do, ratings, and other tourist information, you can read our Dushanbe day trip app .

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major airport is Qurghonteppa International Airport. December in Dushanbe sees daily highs of 13°C and lows of 0°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) so you can travel back home.
