Little more than a small town at the turn of the 20th century, Dushanbe grew rapidly during the Soviet era and now serves as the national capital and home to nearly 800,000 people.
Explore Dushanbe's surroundings by going to Ski Tourism Complex Safed Dara (in Tagob), Hisor (Hisor Fortress & Hisor HIstorical and Cultural Preserve) and Nurek Dam (in Nurek). And it doesn't end there: get engrossed in the history at National Museum of Tajikistan, walk around Rudaki Park, view the masterpieces at NOOR ART GALLERY, and get outside with Varzob gorge.

For other places to visit, photos, reviews, and tourist information, read Dushanbe driving holiday planning tool.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiport is Qurghonteppa International Airport. In December in Dushanbe, expect temperatures between °C during the day and °C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) so you can travel back home.
