Russian Museum, St. Petersburg

4.7
Housed inside a classical building designed by famed architect Carlo Rossi, Russian Museum boasts a permanent collection tracing the history of Russian art from Byzantine church paintings to the avant-garde video presentations of the 20th century. Established in 1895 by Emperor Nicholas II, the museum contains nearly half a million artworks, including notable pieces by Alexei Venetsianov, Pavel Fedotov, and Ivan Shishkin. The museum also boasts a large collection of paintings by Ilya Repin, widely regarded as one of the country's greatest realist painters. Be sure to leave some time for the halls displaying nearly 6,000 icons, some of which date back to the 12th century. • I don't think we should talk about the exhibition. I want to share my advice. We went with a colleague, thought to take a tour. good nessed. Gave 3 tr. As a guide we came across Valentina Nikolaevna (here's the surname, pardon, did not know). A true master of his craft, tells very competently and enthusiastically. Of course, I am not familiar with the manner of presentation of the material by other guides in the Russian museum, but compared to many employees of other places of culture, Valentina Nikolaevna is at a higher level. This turned out to be the most useful waste of money in St. Petersburg for the entire holiday. And the Russian Museum is certainly beautiful! 9 shaft, Rainbow, Last Day, Forest Wilderness. What can you say?

  • It's a great museum! It's a welcome visit! The paintings are mesmerizing. Next to many paintings is the zR-Code. You need to download the recognition app to your phone in advance. Take headphones to the museum. It's very convenient! Thanks to the application in the phone you can not only admire the pictures, but also listen to and learn the history of their creation.

  • The russian museums is simply stunning and something not to miss when visiting the town. The building itself although not of my taste is imposing and very well worth a stop by. The paintings are all very interesting and the audio guide you are provided with very useful and helps you in appreciating what you are looking at.
  • Good collection, we enjoyed our visit! But really, what's wrong with the corridors at entrance? It's some crazy maze! That was some fun trying to get in and out :D
