Canterbury Museum Reviews
This museum is huge and offers a lot of history. The information of the Maori was spectacular and all areas in the museum offer a lot of history. They also offer a nice cafe. more »
The museum is free to enter and you can voluntarily offer a coin donation or more if you wish. It is warm and cosy inside and a good escape from the wind or rain if that's the case. What I found so in... more »
My family enjoyed their visit here. thanks Not a large museum but packed in a lot. Some exhibits seemed older but still interesting if you have not visited before. We stayed most of the morning which shows that they were able to hold the interest of young children for some time. They particularly liked the explorer zone but it is $2 admission price. Worth a visit in Christchurch and what wouldn't you as it is free entry ( donations encouraged)
It's a great museum to learn about the Maori people and their relationship with the place they lived, now Christchurch. But not only that, the museum also has permanent exhibitions about the lifestyle of the European settlers, one area recreates the streets of old Christchurch with its shops. Has beautiful collections of items from the Victorian era. And all the way to modern Christchurch and our impact as humans. Has a permanent exhibition about the expeditions to Antarctica, which is great.
