The mosque includes a large courtyard and gardens, while the main sandstone and brick represents the traditional Almohad style, with minimal decorations taking the form of geometrical holes and inscriptions.   Absolutely stunning mosque with lovely gardens on the west side. On the east side is a door you can peak through. Non muslims are not allowed in the mosque so don't go in.  more »

  We visited here as part of our tour of Marrakech. We were told that first inaugurated in 1157 and is the spiritual centre of Marrakesh. There was a small part of the old wall remaining which was made....  more »

  Comes in handy as orientation. Westerners / non moslims aren't allowed to visit any mosques in Morocco - except the one on Casablanca (why...?). So what's there more to say...
