Make a wish at Nishinomiya Shrine, the chief Shinto shrine for the deity of good fortune and experience its gardens and carp pond. You will join over 1.5 million visitors who pray for the success of their business and safety of their families over New Year's Day. Some 6,000 of them also take part in the annual "lucky race" to the temple in search of good luck. This temple boasts some 3,500 subordinate Shinto shrines. The area is known for sake production; you may get a chance to sample some, as occasional sake festivals are held in the shrine.
