When the original 16th-century structure crumbled in 1945, Hiroshima Castle was erected in its place as a historically accurate replica. The iconic castle once served as a home of the daimyo, the feudal lord of Hiroshima. The structure's modern facsimile, which shines in white with a partially wooden exterior, contains a museum dedicated to Hiroshima's history before World War II. The ninomaru (outer castle wall) consists of the castle's main gate and turrets adjoined by a warehouse. Step inside to see details of the castle's reconstruction.     We didn't have the chance to go inside, it was already closed. It's much smaller than Himeji's, but it's very nice and cute. The surrounding park is very well taken care. It's worth if you're in...  more »

    The area surrounding the castle is very beautiful, although quite small. The castle is stunningly pretty and is a reconstruction of the original, now turned museum. It consists of 5 levels, only the first two floors are in English and the rest is in Japanese. The steps are super steep. Costing an adult 370 yen to enter, the view from the top is pretty nice.

    Nice place to visit but it didn’t take my breath away. In the surrounding ponds you can see beautiful colourful carps and swimming turtles. There are facilities to buy some food and feed fish at the premises.
