Castello Orsini-Odescalchi is a castle in Bracciano, in the Province of Rome, Lazio, Italy. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Bracciano. It was built in the 15th century, and combines the functions of a military defence structure and a civilian residence of the feudal lords of the period, the Orsini and Borgia, both papal families. As one of the largest and best-maintained castles in Italy, it also houses a museum; as a centre of cultural events, the Castello has hosted several high-profile weddings like the ones of Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes, Eros Ramazzotti/ Michelle Hunziker and Petra Ecclestone/James Stunt.
The well-preserved medieval castle Castello Orsini-Odescalchi is 3 km from the Bracciano town which is 30 km away from Rome. It is located on the southern shore of the volcanic lake . The railway Line FR3 connects it with Rome in about 55 minutes. Close to it lie the two medieval towns of Anguillara Sabazia and Trevignano Romano.

  • Someone from Italy recommended we stop here based on what he knew we like. He was spot on. The castle is stunning and the views are marvelous. Lots of rooms to walk through and space to roam. Took lot...  more »
  • For those who love castles, this is absolutely to visit, kept in good condition, furnished with furniture of time and not, when walking through the rooms you can perceive the story that is told in the opuscoletti and in the fillets put for the rooms specifying in some part of the castle is located and the name of the room. Located in a spectacle of nature that is Lake Bracciano, the only mole unfortunately the guide available to visitors there is only on the weekend, otherwise everything ok.

  • Fantastic place to visit if you are interested in renaissance period history. beautifully preserved, great frescoes and items. Fabulous views over town and lake. Also, I can't believe people arr complaining about the entrance fee - it is half the amount you pay for most museums in Rome and twice the value!
  • We can enjoy a wonderful view from this imposing castle. This castle preserves history of one of the most famous Roman family: the Orsini. The lake is also beautiful.
