Viti Crater, Lake Myvatn

Feast your eyes on the stark contrasts of Viti Crater, a steep volcanic basin 300 m (985 ft) in diameter and featuring a lake at the bottom. The crater was formed centuries ago during a massive volcanic eruption. Hike up to the top for views of the lake and its steaming thermal vents, as well as the surrounding mountains.
