Leave behind the comforts of civilization at Hverir, where the power of nature rules. Few countries compare to Iceland when it comes to volcanic activity, and this field of fumaroles and hot springs is a prime example. Experience the relentless undrground energy, visible in the columns of steam, boiling water, and bubbling mud pots. No plants or animals can survive in this highly acidic environment, but you will see an abundance of colorful minerals. Walk up to the vents and pools, taking care to stay safe. Wear comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Note that the steam and smell of sulfur might be uncomfortable for some. 地面のあちこちの泥沼から硫黄を含んだ蒸気が上がっています。歩いて良い場所はロープで区切られています。泥で、地面が滑りやすいので、注意が必要です。至る所から白い湯気の出る様子が不思議な光景の場所です。 more »Sulfur-containing steam is rising from the marshes here and there in the ground. Good place to walk is separated by a rope. Be careful because the mud makes the ground slippery. It is a place of a mysterious sight to see the appearance that white steam comes out from everywhere.
Just a minute drive from route no. 1. An interesting place to see! All in all it will take you around 30 minutes and you’ll love it. more »
A beautiful place to take a small wall and admire the beautiful volcanic landscape of Iceland. The geothermal vents produce some of the most interesting landscapes. They smell heavily of sulfur and methane so it's not a pleasant smell at all, but that is expected. It's worth pulling over and seeing this once in a lifetime experience.
Fascinating place. Beautiful but also disgusting cause of the smell and the sticky mud. I highly recommend you to put plastic bags over your shoes when walking there. Absolutely worth a visit.
