  • There are nice statues all around the fountain. The courtyard where it is located is a good place to take a breath from walking inside the museum. Just find a spot and have a sit for five or ten minutes before continuing.
  • This ornamental sculpture fountain in the courtyard at Residenz is one of the oldest fountains in Munich and is a beautiful monument to see while sightseeing. Its well worth a few minutes to find, just outside the Cuvilliés theater at Residenz. The fountain dates back to the early 17th century when it was move here during the reign of Maximilian I. The fountain features a figure of Otto I, the 12h-century and original ruler of the Whitelsbach dynasty. He is surrounded by tritons as well as river gods which represent four major rivers in Bavaria including the Danube, Inn, Isar and Lech. Collectively, they form an elegant sc that is lovely to see. If you enjoy viewing fountains and other monuments during your travels, this is a very impressive sculptural fountain at Residenz that is worth seeking out if you plan to visit this area of Munich.
