  • Going to Munich you can not not exempt yourself from visiting this numismatic museum, in fact inside are kept authentic wonders, both coins and medals, cameos and beautiful cabinets with drawers to hold the coins. The coins and cabinets are displayed in a central hall from where you can then access the other three rooms where classical, Roman, medieval and modern coins are displayed, and then move on to Room III with medals. The coins on display practically trace the history of the same, starting from the first coinages of the Lydia, in electro, we continue with the show of Magna Greece, the beautiful coins the goddess Aretusta, Metaponto, Taranto and so on, we continue with Tolemaiche coins, we continue with the collection of Imperial Roman coins, with a representation of Emperors on golds, silvers and oricals enviable from collections around the world, Commodore, Lucio Vero and Iulia Domna, Antonio Pio and others, a constant coin of Constantine I the Great Raphael of Three Quarters, leaves breathless, then the Byzantine coinage, then many medieval coins especially Bavarian and finally modern coins always Bavarian. We continue with the exhibition of italian school medals passing to medieval ones, with present a beautiful medal coined in Nuremberg in 1521 for the coronation of Emperor Charles V, up to the most modern dedicated to the monuments of Munich. There is also a large exhibition of books to be purchased, although in German they can offer numerous reading points, as well as small souvenirs such as magnets or numismatic-themed postcards. In short, a visit to this Museum for a numismatic enthusiast is a must.

  • Highly recommend visiting this museum and treasury. There are lots of rooms and treasures to see. To view the whole area you need about 2 hours. Well worth the €11 for entry.
  • Very big Museum, very similar to the palace of versailles in Paris, layout is a little confusing. but they’ve got arrows pointing in the direction.
