The oldest of the three remaining gates of Munich's ancient city walls, Sendlinger Tor was built during the second expansion of the city in the early 14th century as a gateway to the trade route to Italy. Today the Gothic gateway is covered with ivy and vines and stands between the historic old town and the suburb of Isar. From here, you can walk through one of the main shopping areas in Munich toward the bustling Marienplatz. A nearby plaza with the same name also provides a nice environment for resting your feet. Sendlinger Tor Reviews
more »One of the three existing wall gates in Munich, south across St. Ringer Street. It seems to have been the starting point of the road to Italy. It was a simple gate connecting the two towers with an arch, and the inside of the tower felt like the top was blocked and not able to go up. At the time of the visit, a crane truck was stretching the ladder across the gate, and it was a distraction to take a picture.
As soon as we leave the Aasamkirche, very beautiful, we continue on the avenue towards the metro and we come down to this other access door, perhaps the least beautiful and characteristic.
a very cool and beautiful place. there are many worth to see attractions, nice bars/pubs and restaurants around. right next to it there's a clean and modern public toilet! 4 stars inky because there is a construction going on since ages and it doesn't seem to be over any time...
Really nice structure. A lot of people visiting. I visited the place during dawn and it looked awesome!
