  • This monument stands in tribute to Kurt Eisner, the Bavarian socialist and journalist who organised the November Revolution that overthrew the Wittelsbach monarchy that led to the replacement of the German constitutional monarchy with a democratic parliamentary republic. This monument is a simple glass structure that has no meaning that I can decipher. The monument is a bit out of the way and I wouldn't make a big effort to see it unless you're a big Kurt Eisner admirer or a Socialist fanatic. I don't understand this monument!
  • This is glass panel monument created by Rotraut Fischer in 2011. The glass structure is a memorial to the first Prime Minister of the Free State of Bavaria, Kurt Eisner, who was assassinated in 1919. The words "Jedes Menschenleben soll heilig sein" can be seen clearly in the glass panels. The English translation is "Every human life should be sacred" - This statement was a quotation of the Eisner when proclaiming the Free State of Bavaria. Give the monument a look-see if you find yourself on Oberanger during time spent in the Old Town.
