#3 of 117 in Museums in Ecuador
Immerse yourself in a creative and spiritual journey with a visit to La Capilla Del Hombre, a museum housed in an Inca-inspired chapel. Established by artist and philanthropist Oswaldo Guayasamin, the museum serves as a tribute to humankind, reflecting on suffering and violence but ultimately inspiring hope for a better future. Tragically, Guayasamin died before the opening of his masterpiece, but his spirit lives on in the floor-to-ceiling paintings lining the museum's walls. Take a guided tour in English, Spanish, or French, included in your ticket price. To visit La Capilla Del Hombre on your holiday in Quito, and find out what else Quito has to offer, use our Quito.

  • One thing worth noting is that a tour guide is provided to walk you through the museum. The tour is pretty thorough and they offer one in English or Spanish. There are many works of art on display.....  more »
  • The compassion and passion of the artist is deeply felt through his representations of the horrors and tragedy of civil war and war in general. A moving experience, not an entertainment venue.  more »

  • We don't know how this place doesn't get more traffic and visitors. This is a first-class museum and should be an icon of Quito. Not only do you get great views from the exterior, but the interior of the Capilla and the artwork it is home to is emotional, touching, and impactful. The tour of home is also nice. We took a Cabify here from La Mariscal and it was pretty straightforward to also get picked up as well (we had reception). The cafe seemed closed when we were there (maybe the person who was manning to counter went on break). Good for any art-lover.
  • Definitely worth visiting. A masterpiece of modern art. The Guayasamin museum and house right next to the chapel are also very interesting and worth visiting. The view of the city from here is also great.
