Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen

4.2
#1 of 456 in Parks in Denmark
Set some time aside for fun and games at Tivoli Gardens, the second-oldest amusement park in the world. Established in 1843, the park sits in the heart of the city and offers not only traditional amusement rides and carnival games, but also flower gardens, food pavilions, and open-air shows. The most-visited amusement park in Scandinavia, this large venue attracts the majority of its visitors after dusk, when the lights come on and the area becomes one big stage for a range of cultural activities. Be sure to try a few roller coaster rides, but leave plenty of time for a show at the park's world-famous pantomime theater, built in the 1870s by celebrated architect Vilhelm Dahlerup. • True fairy tale. Vintage and very well maintained amusement park, with unusual amusements. All inside a park with beautiful gardens. It always closes with a fireworks show.

  • Tivoli is as always beautiful and accomplished. There are rides for big and small. Clearly worth a visit.

  • I love Tivoli Gardens so much. It really is my happy place when I visit Copenhagen. It’s a beautiful city park/theme park where Walt Disney got some of his ideas for Disneyland and that legacy shows! From the amazingly beautiful gardens to the detailed theming on the buildings and the nooks and crannies to explore everywhere! Make sure you take the time to go in all the little shops and look at the cute restaurants and cafes. Many have been there a long time and are independently owned and operated. Staying after dark is a must - the lights make this such an incredibly special place to be at night. For the rides you can purchase either a unlimited wristband or individual tickets. It can get very expensive quickly with individual tickets - so go for the unlimited option. Toilets throughout the park are busy but clean. You can leave and return through the food hall if you need a break. You can also bring in snacks or drinks if you prefer.
  • We went to Tivoli the first day we went to Copenhagen. We had an absolute blast! The park was beautiful, and the lines weren’t even long. We entered the park around 6pm and we left at 11pm, every hour we enjoyed our time there. I recommend this park to every age! It’s beautiful and very fun. Next time that we’re in Copenhagen we’re definitely going to Tivoli again.
