One of the oldest cast iron lighthouses in the world, Gibb's Hill Lighthouse was built in 1844 by the British Army Royal Engineers. The 117 feet (35 m) tall lighthouse stands on top of Gibb's Hill and features a plaque and viewpoint that commemorates the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Climb the 185 steps to the top of the lighthouse to be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of the area. Visit the lighthouse tea room, in the restored cottage of the lighthouse keeper, for a meal at the foot of the tower. • 182 steps to the top and only $2.50 for the best views of the island. Every 20 steps you can pause and read about the lighthouse history. I’ve climbed it twice and will go again.  more »

  • You start in the gift shop which sells standard Bermuda souvenirs. This is also where you purchase your ticket to climb the light house which is about 186 steps to the top. The light house is partially a museum as nearly every level you can stop to read about it's history. At the very top you climb through a very tiny door that leads you to the balcony of the light house. It's very windy up top so protect your hat if you are wearing one!
  • Great views and interesting history. And having 6 landings made it easy to climb the 185 steps. A must-see in the area.
