Nestled on a hillside, Nan Tien Temple represents the largest Buddhist temple south of the Equator. The eclectic temple complex--with a Tibetan-style temple and an eight-story Chinese pagoda--was completed in 1995 on land donated by Australian government. Weekend meditation retreats and classes in Tai Chi and calligraphy are organized on regular basis for all visitors interested in Buddhism and Chinese culture. Nothing special here, we spoke to another couple who were wandering around aimlessly as there is no clue of what to do when you get here except to do just that. Be aware you cannot go into the temple.... more »

What a fantastic place. So very relaxing here on a week day. Wonderful scenery, paved pathways surrounding the temple, plenty of parking. Two restaurants for grabbing a bit but you may want to consider taking a packed lunch? Few stairs to climb but you can take you're time. There is also a gift shop here.

What an amazing place to visit. Beautiful grounds, well kept and such a quiet peaceful place. Only about 1.5 hrs from Sydney it is definitely worth the drive down. Only spent the afternoon there, but could easily stay longer and do a lunch at the vege restaurant. A must visit for a tranquil and amazing experience, will be going back for sure. Note: there is a dress code that should be observed. Pants, closed shoes and no singlets.
