The Oak Barrel is one of Australia's oldest bottle shops. Fierecely independent since 1956, the Oak Barrel has stayed ahead of the curb with its outstanding range of small producer and natural wine, single malt whisky, craft beer and spirits.

The Oak Barrel is recognised across the country, within the industry and by its loyal members for its dedication to quality products. The industry leading expertise of the staff is demonstrated through educational masterclasses and tasting festivals or fairs.

The Oak Barrel is not merely a bottle store or unique customer experience, it is a community who appreciate the unique gifts of flavour.

  • This is the only bottle shop I go to in Sydney for beer because the selection is good. Rotates often, and they usually have two beers on tap that you can fill up growlers of. Great place.  more »

  • One of the oldest bottle shops in Sydney; offering a truly amazing range of product. (Albeit, they didn't stock Gosling's Black Seal Rum when I visited last week). Perhaps not the cheapest place to buy a case of standard Aussie lager, but that's not why you come here. If you want a huge choice of spirits, wines, liqueurs and, yes, beers, from around the world this is your location. If you value quality and helpful, knowledgeable advice, I recommend you consider registering for their club membership which provides a discount on your purchases (as well as an invitation to their Member's Christmas Party, select tastings and, sometimes, their Burns Night Supper).
  • Great range of boutique and beers. Good whiskey. Some quality wine choices. They do tastings and events, helpful staff. Only problem is, this place is a drain on your wallet if you keep perusing those shelves!
