Hyde Park, Sydney

#9 of 106 in Parks in Sydney
Visit the oldest public park in Australia, Hyde Park. From the very early days of the colony, the open area was a top spot for sports such a cricket, rugby, and even organized bare-knuckle fights. Today, it remains an ideal spot for a morning jog or a stroll among fig-lined avenues in the park. The gardens are well-kept and home to approximately 580 trees. There are many monuments to stop and see, such as the Archibald Fountain, the ANZAC War Memorial, an obelisk with Egyptian features, and a monument to Captain James Cook. You can do what the locals like to do, grab a latte, people watch, or read a book on the grass. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Hyde Park and many more Sydney attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Sydney day trip website .

  • It is a big park in the center of Sydney. Is it a position like a peace park in Japan? The Anzac Memorial, which commemorates the victims of World War I, is located in the park. Because it was Saturday, many citizens were relaxing in the park. It must be a place of relaxation for Sydney people.

  • This is a great park to walk around maybe early night, just when the lights are turned on, a very nice and romantic scene, close to the shops and on the other side of St. Mary’s  more »

  • Lovely trees to sit under amongst the meandering roots. A constant symphony of insects and birds filling the air. You can be surrounded by people but at the same feel a satisfying solitude. The sheet of water in front of the memorial is also a beautiful place to take photos or just watch the reflections. Good wide running paths.
  • Nice city park with the smell of China Town near by. Take a train from nearby Martin Place to Town Hall and have a relaxing stroll towards Darling Harbour. Hyde Park is an ideal place to show of some of your magic tricks to walkers/joggers.
