Explore Sydney’s history at Customs House, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. This historic building was constructed in 1845 and served as the headquarters of the Customs Service for over 150 years. Today, the building is a popular venue for art exhibitions and private functions, and is home to the city’s main library. On the ground floor visitors can see a scale model of the city’s central business district, viewed through a glass floor. You can also eat, drink, meet up with friends, read newspapers, and browse the internet at this vibrant public space featuring a magazine salon and several trendy bars and restaurants. The Circular Quay, where the building is located, is a convenient place to start or end your tour of the city. more »We visited a building just outside Circular Quay Station, this time for dinner. It used to be used as a customs office. The inside of the facility was not very large, but there is a taste. On the first floor, it mimics the streets of Sydney, and it is worth seeing.
Historic building with an amazing model of Sydney City visible beneath a transparent floor on ground level. There is a library inside the building with books, magazines and newspapers. Lounges are available to experience comfortable reading. Customs House is a nice place to visit and relax, and is easily accessible by public transport, being in walking distance of Circular Quay train station and wharves.
Great place to visit for locals and tourists alike. It's easy to get to as it's just across from Circular Quay Ferries and Train Station. Inside you'll find a see through floor and library upstairs. You can book tours. They even have events you can book for and eat at. There is a room you can book for functions.
