I went to see the Streeton exhibition on currently, and it was fabulous, as well as a weird old Japanese film which was too long, too confusing and too strange for my taste. But the AGNSW often has... more »

What a brilliant exhibition, I had not realised that Streeton was prolific. The Gallery did a wonderful job of hanging the artworks in the different segments of his life, with very informative notes..... more »

Fabulous! Everything from the outside architecture to the permanent and temporary exhibitions are exceptional!! Beautiful works from Australia and Europe feature well. Newer exhibitions are from Asia as they become mite prominent and their old asset history is brought pour of the closed and dark attitudes of times gone by. We saw the Japanese exhibition featuring the demon and spirit world that was a big part of old culture and is the origins of modern day Manga. We paid special entry $22 .. actually they politely honour senior concession etc too. The staff told is of the free commentary our starting a short time after our arrival. It was fantastic. The wonderful lady presentation was a delight and told us about the artists and history in a informative, passionate and light hearted manner. A real highlight. We then spent time in the other galleries ... everything from Picasso to Tim Roberts ! Get along and see the amazing collection. You will be amazed at what your taxes can offer. We also are lunch at the bistro bar. Food and service were spot on. Good views too.

Solid art museum with lots to see among its varied exhibits. The Japan Supernatural touring exhibition was spectacular and the audio narration is a mandatory addition. One could easily spend a few days at least here, which is great because it's free. However, it's a bit out the way by public transportation which was a bummer.
