Wattle Park, Melbourne

#22 of 64 in Parks in Melbourne
Take a long break at Wattle Park, noted for its plantation of 12,000 wattle trees. The park contains areas of indigenous remnant bushland, identified as regionally significant, and a high diversity of native fauna rarely found in other suburban habitats. At this location you can observe over 20 species of butterflies, at least 60 species of beetles, three species of frogs, bats, possums, and a huge variety of birds. Take advantage of the park’s two playgrounds, picnic areas, and barbecue facilities. As the terminus of tram route 70, the park retains its historic connection to the city’s tramways, and includes two old trams as popular shelters within its grounds. A small café, golf and tennis courts, and public toilets are also available. Arrange to visit Wattle Park and other attractions in Melbourne using our Melbourne driving holiday planner.

  • Very peaceful and old trams as picnic venues and old tennis courts. Open native tree space but no adventure playground for kids. Bring an old tennis racket and an furry dog ball, a kite, a football or a dog or two on a lead.
  • Great playground equipment. Kids love the trams. Needs less dust, more grass and more shade for another star. Didn't find the water bubbler. Kids love it here.
