For every great musical act enjoying the limelight of success, there are thousands that bubble below the surface just waiting for their big chance. While it's never been easier to write, record and publish things yourself, many artists will never have the opportunity to develop their talents in a professional, nurturing yet challenging environment. Enter, the latest instalment of the GRID Series.

GRID Series 2017 is an Artist Development Program that equips musicians with the essential skills and recorded material to create a sustainable career in the music industry. This year’s series, supported by Creative Victoria, will be focusing on developing artists from the Outer South Eastern region of Melbourne, home to some of the most exciting emerging talent in Victoria.

The program focuses on supporting emerging artists to develop new recorded content, to build career strategies under the guidance of some of Australia’s most inspirational industry experts, creates a space for collaboration between musicians and the next generation of music industry professionals from Melbourne’s top music colleges, links up artists with established songwriters to further develop their song writing skills and supports the artists in promoting their new material through video content online and hosting shows within the region.

Each year, 8 artists are selected to take part in a free, three- month intensive program which plays out across 4 stages

• A full weekend of industry mentoring with music industry professionals at Music Victoria. Each artist has the opportunity to work directly with a mentor to help them move towards achieving specific goals in relation to their career development. Mentors include David Morgan from Lemontree Music (Tash Sultana, Pierce Brothers, Maddy Jane, Willow Beats), Danae Effern from Little Giant Agency (Smith Street Band, Benny Walker, The Teskey Brothers) and Tom Larkin of VVV Management (Reuben Stone, Killing Heidi) and Signal Artist Development Accelerator

• Song Writing Development sessions

• Recording/Production/Mixing/Mastering of one track for each of the 8 artists involved in the series courtesy of El Perro Productions and video content courtesy of Baked Goods.

• Live shows at ALH venues, The Pelly Bar and Ferntree Gully Hotel

This project, supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria and run in partnership with El Perro Productions, ALH Group and Music Victoria is an amazing opportunity for bands from this region to build a supportive network around their music.

  • I had my birthday party there on the weekend and we loved it. We did some races and everyone enjoyed it whether they were winning, on their roof or driving backwards. We all loved the fact that we could all compete against each other and loved the experience. I would definitely go back and i would recommend it to others.
  • Only one of their rigs has a force feedback wheel. There is no marshalling either so no penalties for dirty driving. This place is more suited for kids parties than people looking for a simulated race experience.
