Melbourne’s iconic Princess Theatre is regarded by many as Melbourne’s most spectacular landmark. Dating back to 1854, the theatre was purchased by Marriner Theatres in 1986 and plans were put in place for its total refurbishment and to ensure its future viability as a live theatre venue. The Princess Theatre reopened in 1989 with the musical ‘Les Miserables’ followed by ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ which established a new record for the longest-running show ever staged in Victoria. Other world-class stage productions to have played at this theatre include 'Cats', 'MAMMA MIA!', 'The Producers', 'Dirty Dancing', 'Jersey Boys', 'Matilda the Musical', and 'The Book of Mormon'.Put Princess Theatre on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Melbourne visit site .

Beautiful theater and great staff. Only one sit down toilet available in the men's, so be sure to avoid spicy food before attending. Getting drinks etc can be a hassle. Most seats provide a great view, avoid rear seats on ground floor
AMAZING experience watching Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at Princess Theatre. The staff were friendly, helpful, and personable. The show was un-freaking-believable!! Definitely worth the price and the wait. Go while you can!!! It is incredible. The theatre is a very short walk from Parliament train station, making it super accessible!
