Darwin Airboat Tours Reviews
We experienced an awesome day having been picked up from our accomodation to go airboating. The day started with lunch at terrific little pub, visiting the rescue crocs, a great airboat experience... more »
After booking but before boarding the airboat the guide said there'd be "no chance of seeing a croc in the low tide and it's wet season". Wish they'd said this upfront. So we paid $1320 for 8 people.... more »
This is more an activity then a tour, though you are taken up a harbour tributary to see a croc trap and look for fauna and wildlife. We did see barramundi basking in the shallows, pelicans and various other sea birds. But the joy of this activity, for me, was the uniqueness of the airboat, the ability to have an activity in Darwin that can cool you down. (This was the comment of the cruise line tourists also on the tour.) And yes there were the mud bank spins and we loved every minute of it.
We were very disappointed in this tourist activity. The brochure promissed so much but the product delivered so little. If we had wanted to spin on a thinly covered tidal mud bank we would've done it properly complete with the promissed ( but not delivered)adrenalin rush in a jet boat. The boat in itself requires some kind of explanation to the paying passengers. The brochure explains that you should be able to see birdlife , crustaceans etc., If this is the case there should be some kind of commentary other than g'day , how yer goin, didja enjoy that then, shall we do some more spins? DEFINITELY 1 out of 10 on the whole experience ( or non experience) Would we do it again? Thanks but no thanks.
