The Riverboat Postman, Brooklyn

Must see · Boat Tour · Tour
This popular tour is now operating on a new boat with a new company! Hawkesbury Cruises has warmly welcomed cruisers young and young-at-heart since 2001, specialising in Seniors' travel. Our coffee is real, our tea is hot, and our famous ANZAC biscuits are home-made daily to Grandma's recipe!

Come cruising with us and enjoy the magnificent scenery of the lower Hawkesbury River as we deliver the mail and other essentials (the odd bottle of whisky...) to the river-access-only settlements upriver from Brooklyn.

The first Riverboat Postman started the run in 1910, and the tradition continues today. Our skippers are locals who have lived in the area their whole lives - be entertained by the stories of the river whilst cruising in comfort up this spectacular waterway.

We deliver to the settlements of Dangar Island, Kangaroo Point, Milson Island, Bar Point, Marlow Creek, Fisherman's Point and Milson's Passage before returning to Brooklyn in time for the train.

Only an hour north of Sydney!

The cruise departs daily every weekday except Public Holidays from the Brooklyn Public Wharf at 10am, returning at approximately 1.15pm

  • Five star service from start to finish. Kate was very professional and friendly. All the staff on board were the same, professional, friendly and responsive. We took the Sunday cruise which was enjoyable despite the on and off drizzle that happened throughout the trip. The food was ok and the selection of drinks were good as well. Highly Recommended.
  • A great way to spend half, of an extremely hot day, on the water. Information about history, of the 1st Australians & geological in nature, makes for an interesting half day. Morning tea is 'Grandma's' secret recipe for Anzac biscuits - thin & crispy, freshly made each day with tea or coffee. A ploughman's lunch is served with crusty, fresh & soft Turkish bread; meat, cheese, greens & other salad vegies with chutney & pickle. Just right after being on the Hawkesbury, with fresh air, sun & a sea breeze. A glass of wine or beer completes the meal. The boat stops off at various points to deliver the mail in some cases to islands & the Sport & Rec camp. Good value for the money. They do a Fish 'n Chips run on Sundays leaving at 11 am. The Mail run leaves at 10 am returming at 1:30. Try it yourself & take a friend or two. We took 3!
