South Bank Parklands, Brisbane

4.8
Sitting along the Brisbane River, South Bank Parklands sits in the heart of Brisbane. Towering over the park at 60 m (197 ft), the Wheel of Brisbane Ferris wheel offers you a panorama of the city and its surrounding. When your ride finishes, head to Streets Beach, a manmade beach spreading out over 2,000 sq m (21,500 sq ft) and containing a base of 4,000 cubic meters (5,200 cubic yards) of sand with another 70 tons brought in every summer. Here you can swim in chlorinated fresh water and relax under the shade of a palm tree. Other attractions include the traditionally designed Nepal Peace Pagoda and flowering bougainvillea on the 443 curling steel columns of The Arbour. Numerous restaurants and cafes offer dining options. Arrange your visit to South Bank Parklands and discover more family-friendly attractions in Brisbane using our Brisbane vacation planner .

  • This area along the river bank has been very well done and a real credit to Brisbane. Extensive landscaping and paving make for a lovely walk through this area. We also went on the Brisbane Eye to get...  more »
  • The Parklands was an impressive place for us to stay. Amazingly beautiful - playgrounds for children, pools, bars, beautiful galleries, boardwalks in the dense "rainforest", even fitness training with a trainer (apparently daily) for all who want (and there were many :-)

  • A must see place if you are a traveler! Or not 😉 we had so much fun riding bikes around this area and sight seeing. It is so beautiful! I had looked at photos before traveling to Brisbane and taken it off my list. We happened to stumble upon it and I am so glad we did. It was one of my favorite parts of our whole trip. So cool! The beach and pool in the middle of the city is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Wish we lived closer!!
  • I always love to visit South Bank while in Brisbane. It's a vibrant, relaxed space in the middle of the city. If you want a peaceful spot to sit and chill, you'll find one. If you want something to eat, there is so much to choose from. A great place walk and cycle so that you can get a bit of downtime among all the daily business, and focus on moving. The beach is always busy, and the gardens are thoughtfully maintained. Brisbane has done a wonderful job in creating this space.
